To do this, select your table of contents and click the Update Table button that appears at the top of it. You may see a pop-up message depending on the changes youve made to your document. If the style is based on an underlying style, then you can only revert the style. This means that all the text that uses the style you are deleting is changed to the underlying style for the style you are deleting.
If youve manually applied formatting to any of your titles, they might show up in the TOC. But a title in a document with a Title heading (or Subtitle heading) generally wont appear in the TOC (or outline). Instead, use only Headings 1-6 for your titles.
On the Home tab, in the Styles group, right-click the style that you want to remove from the gallery. Click Remove from Style gallery on the shortcut menu. Note: Removing a style from the gallery does not remove the style from the entries that appear in the Styles task pane.
Body Text is just that, a style intended for the ordinary text of the body of a document. By default it is identical to Normal except for having 6 pts Spacing After. This means that if you use it, youll get half a line space between paragraphs, which you will often want.

Changing a Heading to Body Text Using the mouse, click on the Demote to Body Text tool. This is the one that looks like two right arrows. Apply a formatting style that is not a heading level. Using the mouse, drag the body text indicator (the small plus sign to the left of the heading) to the right.
Go to the Home tab and click on the small launcher arrow in the lower right-hand corner of the font section to go to the Font dialog box. Select +Body and the size text you want, then click Set as Default in the lower left-hand corner.
