Restore Previous Versions (PC) In Windows, if you right-click on a file, and go to Properties, you will see an option titled Previous Versions. This option can help you revert to a version of your file before the overwrite occurred, allowing you to get your data back.
If Microsoft Word displays a message warning There Are No Previous Versions of This File, it means no previous versions of the document were auto-saved.
Press Ctrl + Z. Your last action is undone. For example, if you had deleted an item and then decided you wanted to keep it after all, undo would make it reappear.
The best and simplest thing to do is to undo the process if you mistakenly saved over a Word document. You can restore the Word document to an earlier version by pressing Ctrl + Z. There is also an Undo button on the top-left corner of the Word window, which you can use to revert unwanted changes.
On your Mac, open the document, choose File Revert To, then choose Last Opened, Last Saved, or Previous Save.
