While working on Word we often face a problem. Many times we want to send a proposal to a new customer. We remember that we have already sent a similar proposal to an existing customer. We open the original file, save it as a new file and search replace the name of the customer. Sometimes the name of the old customer remains and that can create a lot of trouble for you. Here is a brilliant way of using a very nice feature of Word called Fields, so that you never have that particular problem. Instead of manually typing the name of the customer every time what you should do is create a field. Open File menu - Info - Properties - Advanced Properties - the last tab allows you to create custom fields. Im going to create the field called customer name and type the name of one of the customers and just click add. Assume this was your sales proposal. Anytime you need the name of the customer go to this Insert - Quick Parts - Fields. There are a lot of fields, dont get worried. Choose one of

Replace Text Click the Find Select button on the Home tab. Select Replace. Press Ctrl + H. Type the text you want to replace in the Find what box. Type the replacement text in the Replace with box. Click the Find Next button. The first instance is selected. Click any of the following: Click Close when youre finished.
To do mass replace in your worksheet, head over to the Ablebits Data tab and click Substring Tools Replace Substrings. The Replace Substrings dialog box will appear asking you to define the Source range and Substrings range.
Use the Replace dialog box to find and replace specified text in shapes in the active drawing. Specifies the text you want to find. You can type or paste text into this field. To search using text you previously searched for, click the down arrow and then click the text on the list.
Replace text or numbers with the Find Replace Press Ctrl+H or go to Home Find Select Replace. In Find what, type the text or numbers you want to find. You can further define your search: In the Replace with box, enter the text or numbers you want to use to replace the search text. Select Replace or Replace All.
=REPLACE(oldtext, startnum, numchars, newtext) The REPLACE function uses the following arguments: Oldtext (required argument) This is the text we wish to replace some characters. Startnum (required argument) The position, within oldtext, of the first character that you want to replace.
There are 2 options for replacing text: To replace a specific instance of the found text, select a row in the Matches section, and select the Replace button. To replace all instances of the found text, select the Replace All button.
Try it! Select Replace or press Ctrl + H. In the Find what box, type the text you want to search for. Select Find Next to see where the text appears in your file. In the Replace with box, type the text you want. Select Replace to change the text or select Replace All to change all instances of this text in your file.
