While working on Word we often face a problem. Many times we want to send a proposal to a new customer. We remember that we have already sent a similar proposal to an existing customer. We open the original file, save it as a new file and search replace the name of the customer. Sometimes the name of the old customer remains and that can create a lot of trouble for you. Here is a brilliant way of using a very nice feature of Word called Fields, so that you never have that particular problem. Instead of manually typing the name of the customer every time what you should do is create a field. Open File menu - Info - Properties - Advanced Properties - the last tab allows you to create custom fields. Im going to create the field called customer name and type the name of one of the customers and just click add. Assume this was your sales proposal. Anytime you need the name of the customer go to this Insert - Quick Parts - Fields. There are a lot of fields, dont get worried. Choose one of

Replace text and punctuation in documents on Mac On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Keyboard in the sidebar. Click Text Replacements on the right. Click the Add button on the left, type the text to replace (such as teh) and its replacement (such as the), then click Add. Click Done.
If you use Microsoft Office products on the Mac, you need to separately set up your set of text replacements as Autocorrect entries. This is done in the Preferences area of any the Office apps - in Preferences - Autocorrect.
Replace text or numbers with the Find Replace Press Ctrl+H or go to Home Find Select Replace. In Find what, type the text or numbers you want to find. You can further define your search: In the Replace with box, enter the text or numbers you want to use to replace the search text. Select Replace or Replace All.
To do a find and replace, use Control + H on both Windows and Mac.

Go to Home Replace. Enter the word or phrase you want to replace in Find what. Enter your new text in Replace with. Choose Replace All to change all occurrences of the word or phrase.
