Right-click the commit. If a commit has only one tag, click Delete Tag TAG NAME. If a commit has multiple tags, hover over Delete Tag and then click the tag that you want to delete.
You can push a single tag or all tags to a remote repository using the git push command with the name of the remote and the name of the tag, or the --tags option to push all tags at once.
To delete the Git tag from the local repo, run the git tag -d tag-name command where tag-name is the name of the Git tag you want to delete.
To update a Git tag, you can use the git tag command with the -f or --force option. This option allows you to overwrite an existing tag with a new one. To update a Git tag, you first need to create the new tag using the git tag command.
We can add an annotation to a tag by running the git tag command with the -a option, which opens the default text editor that lets you add notes. You can also use the -am option instead if you want to add the note alongside the tag creation.
How to Rename a Tag in Git? Step 1: Create New Tag. Depending on the type of tag you want to rename, create a new lightweight or annotated tag: Step 2: Delete the Old Tag. Clean up the local repository by deleting the old tag. Step 3: Ensure Other Users Clean Their Repository.
If you got the wrong tag, and want the new one, please delete the old one and fetch the new one by doing: git tag -d X git fetch origin tag X to get my updated tag. You can test which tag you have by doing git rev-parse X which should return 0123456789abcdef.. if you have the new version.
