We open the original file, save it as a new file and search replace the name of the customer. Sometimes the name of the old customer remains and that can create a lot of trouble for you. Here is a brilliant way of using a very nice feature of Word called Fields, so that you never have that particular problem. Instead of manually typing the name of the customer every time what you should do is create a field. Open File menu - Info - Properties - Advanced Properties - the last tab allows you to create custom fields. Im going to create the field called customer name and type the name of one of the customers and just click add. Assume this was your sales proposal. To get a name corrected SSN card, in most cases, you will need to complete an Application for a Social Security Card and show us the required documents. You will need evidence of your identity, your new legal name, and name change event.
That is why it is critical that each employees name and SSN, as shown on their Social Security card, match your payroll records and year-end Forms W-2. The Internal Revenue Services Publication 15 (Circular E, Employers Tax Guide) contains instructions for recording employees names and SSNs.
The SSAs mismatch letter explains that employees names and social security numbers (SSN) reported on the employers Wage and Tax Statements (Forms W-2) do not match the SSAs records. The letter notes that if the data does not match, the SSA will not be able to credit the proper account with the payments.
An employer generally must withhold social security and Medicare taxes from employees wages and pay the employer share of these taxes.
You are not required to update Form I-9 when your employee has a legal change of name. However, it is recommended that you maintain correct information on Forms I-9 and note any name changes in Section 3.
