How to Select the First and Last in a Row with CSS. In this snippet, you can find out how to select and style individual columns of your table, particularly the first and last in the table row. For that, you need to use the child selector pseudo-classes: :first-child and :last-child.
An ! Important declaration is a great way to override the styles you want. When an important rule is used on a style declaration, this declaration will override any other declarations.
The :first CSS pseudo-class, used with the @page at-rule, represents the first page of a printed document. (See :first-child for general first element of a node.) Note: You cant change all CSS properties with this pseudo-class. You can only change the margins, orphans , widows , and page breaks of the document.
The :first selector selects the first element. Note: This selector can only select one single element. Use the :first-child selector to select more than one element (one for each parent). This is mostly used together with another selector to select the first element in a group (like in the example above).
The :first-of-type selector in CSS allows you to target the first occurence of an element within its container. It is defined in the CSS Selectors Level 3 spec as a structural pseudo-class, meaning it is used to style content based on its relationship with parent and sibling content.
You can simply use the CSS all property with the value revert to remove the additional author-defined CSS styling for an element (i.e. reset to browsers default CSS styling).
CSS specificity rule Below are the order of specificity rule which has precedence respectively: 1) Inline style: Inline style has highest priority among all. 2) Id Selector: It has second highest priority. 3) Classes, pseudo-classes and attributes: These selectors has lowest priority.
Using CSS :first-child selector and :nth-child() pseudo-class. You can use these two simple CSS selectors to select the first element inside a DIV element.
