you hi guys this is Mark Davis at optimum technology transfer welcome to you all in this video Im gonna take it look at using the replace function in Excel you may be aware if youve seen various other videos of mine here on YouTube you may well be aware you may have gathered that one of my favorite categories of function in the function library are the texts or string functions wonderful functions for cleaning or tidying up your data and Ive created quite a few other YouTube videos to illustrate exactly how these texts or string functions do work but its the turn of the replace function today now Ive got a series of order IDs now the order ID for each of these rows or records that Ive downloaded from saw the system are made up of two numbers followed by four characters followed by three other numbers thats the string that kind of makes up the order ID now what Id like to do is Id like to standardize so what I want to do is to replace the differing four characters kind of some

Delete Sheet1 . Rename Sheet3 to Sheet1 . Find and replace all instances of Sheet1 with Sheet3 in Sheet2 before the delete and rename. Pause calculation, then delete, then rename, then resume calculation. Copy all cell data from Sheet3 to Sheet1 .
Heres what you need to do: On the copied sheet, select all the formulas you want to change. Press Ctrl + H to open the Replace tab of the Find and Replace dialog. Simply hold down the Ctrl key and press either the Page Up or Page Down key to move to the previous or next sheet, respectively. You can also use the Ctrl + Arrow keys to move between sheets. Another great shortcut for quickly changing sheets in Excel is Ctrl + Tab.
To replace text in multiple opening workbooks with this utility, please do as follows: Shift to the Find and Replace view by clicking the Find and Replace button in the Navigation Pane. Click the Replace tab at the top. In the Find what box, type the value that you will replace in multiple workbooks.
Or, theres an easier option. Type = in the cell where you want to reference data from other sheets. Toggle to the source sheet. Click the cell being copied. Hit enter, and the function will automatically populate.
To replace text or numbers, press Ctrl+H, or go to Home Editing Find Select Replace.Click Options to further define your search if needed: Within: To search for data in a worksheet or in an entire workbook, select Sheet or Workbook. Search: You can choose to search either By Rows (default), or By Columns.
How to automatically update one Excel worksheet from another sheet Open your worksheets. First, open both spreadsheets that you want to connect. Select data from your source worksheet. Copy the formula. Click the corresponding area of the new sheet. Enter the link. Add criteria. Set update intervals. Save the workbook.
