hey everybody im paul rabelay and in this video im going to show you how somebody can make a valid will very quickly so im paul rabale im an estate planning attorney and um really a little project here and and well see how this goes but um ive been doing this for 30 years and of course theres a school of people that say you should never ever ever ever ever write a will without getting an attorney and hiring the law firms and all of that and then uh like it or not theres a group on the other end that say you know what im going to do this by myself im going to figure out how to follow the rules im going to make my own now where you stand on on that scale thats thats up to you maybe you can describe in the comments below but i just want to show you how how um a will can be made valid will can be made very very quickly some people stress and procrastinate and they dont sleep and they worry they go on a trip they havent written their will theyre about to go on the highway fo

Using a codicil or writing a new will to change your executor are both acceptable under California state law. Codicils are a better choice if you are changing only a small section of your will. If changing your executor will lead to your will requiring extensive rewrites, its best to rewrite the entire document.
Next, youd write the codicil. In it, youd specify the changes youre making to your will (i.e. naming a new executor), the name of the person who should serve as executor going forward and the date the change should take effect. Youd also need to validate the codicil the same way you did your original will.
You can either make a codicil to your existing will or make a new will. Both require your signature and the signatures of two witnesses.
A codicil to a will is a way to modify your will without preparing a whole new one. A codicil is a written document that describes precisely how to change your will. For example, a codicil might be used to name a different executor or to bequeath a specific item to someone who wasnt included in your original will.
How do I write a Codicil to a Will? Last Will information: Specify the date you signed your Last Will and Testament. Your information: Provide your name, city, and state. Amendments: List your amendments and the clauses they modify. If youre adding clauses, specify where in the Will they apply.
There is, however, a drawback: A codicil is unlikely to seamlessly fit with the original will. Is it a pure addition, or does it also negate something in the original document? If its supposed to replace part of the first will, which part?
A living trust may be better than a will if: You want to maintain privacy over your property or assets. You have several real estate properties. You have docHub financial assets.
