Hey this is Ralph, and in this video, I want to look at the replace feature in Microsoft Word. Alright, so Ive got this document here, and I want to play around with using the replace option in Word, and I also want to practice with using a larger cursor and cursor highlighting on the videos to see how that works. So I have this document here and I do need some text to play around with, so Im gonna go ahead and do equals rand, Ill give myself three paragraphs of ten sentences each, so now I have some text to play with. Ctrl A to select all, make that font a little bit bigger so we can see it, and now I want to get into my replace menu. So basically, Ill just go ahead and click on the top of my document or I could have pressed control home. So Im on my home ribbon, and the replace option is over here in the editing group, so I can see it over here, find/replace you see that little B to C. Go to Home Replace. Enter the word or phrase you want to replace in Find what. Enter your new text in Replace with. Choose Replace All to change all occurrences of the word or phrase.
Try it! Select Replace or press Ctrl + H. In the Find what box, type the text you want to search for. Select Find Next to see where the text appears in your file. In the Replace with box, type the text you want. Select Replace to change the text or select Replace All to change all instances of this text in your file.
If you want to find and replace text in a Word document, use the key combo Ctrl + H. That will bring up the Find and Replace dialog box. Then type in the word or words youre looking for and what to replace them with. Then click the Replace All button.
You can use whatever character(s) you like in Replace with box. For example, if you want to replace every paragraph break with two paragraph breaks then you should type ^p^p in Replace with box. If you simply want to remove paragraph breaks; just leave the Replace with box blank.
If you only have a few paragraphs to move around, you might find it easier to use the keyboard. Position the insertion point in the paragraph you wish to move and press the Alt+Shift key combination simultaneously while pressing the Up arrow or Down arrow key to move the paragraph to the desired location.
Short Answer: Command-8 (⌘-8) Theres a keyboard shortcut for toggling invisible characters (like paragraph marks, and spaces, and tabs) in Microsoft Word on a Mac and as far as I know its worked in every version, since the very beginning.
