So Ive been getting a lot of questions recently about how to better control page numbering in a Pages document. Sometimes you want to skip pages or have a cover page. So lets take a look at how to get exactly the page numbers that you want. Pages has, of course, two modes. Word Processing and Page Layout. Lets start by looking at Word Processing. Im going to create a blank document and Im going to paste in some text here to fill out the document. So as you can see Ive got a bunch of pages here. Lets go back to the top and add page numbering. You can do it in either the Header or the Footer for the page. Lets do it in the Header right in the center. Ill click

From the Header Footer Tools menu, unclick Link to Previous. With the number still highlighted, choose Page Number from the top menu, then select Format Page Numbers. Under Page Numbering, choose Start At and then select a starting number.
In Document Setup, use two fingers to zoom, then tap the header or footer field where you want the page number to appear. Tap Page Numbers, then tap a numbering style. , then make any adjustments.
You can also press Ctrl+H on your keyboard. The Find and Replace dialog box will appear. Type the text you want to find in the Find what: field. Type the text you want to replace it with in the Replace with: field, then click Find Next.
In our example, well use Find and Replace to change the title of a magazine so it is abbreviated. From the Home tab, click the Replace command. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+H on your keyboard. The Find and Replace dialog box will appear.
To do a find and replace, use Control + H on both Windows and Mac.
Click View in the toolbar, then choose Show Find Replace. in the Find Replace window, then choose Find Replace.
Replace found text Tap. , then tap Find. Tap. to the left of the text field, then tap Find and Replace. Enter a word or phrase in the first field. Matches are highlighted as you enter text. Enter the replacement word or phrase in the second field. Review and change the text matches:
