Invoices and receipts have different purposes as theyre issued at different stages of the sales process. Invoices are commonly issued prior to the customer sending the payment, whereas a receipt is issued after the payment has been received.
Change Customer Message on Sales Receipt Go to File menu, then select Preferences then Company. Choose Receipt Message. Enter your changes, then select Save.
Can an invoice be used as a receipt? Since an invoice is a request for payment, not proof of payment, you shouldnt use an invoice in place of a receipt. Once a customer or client pays your invoice, make sure to provide a separate receipt.
First, you create the invoice to record the sale. Later, when your customer pays, you record a payment against that invoice. For an immediate payment, use Sales Receipts.
Select Edit from the Menu bar in QuickBooks. Select Preferences. Select Payments and select Company Preferences. Under the Receive Payments section, you will see Set a payment receipt template for email/print.
