welcome to mandatory fields hey im eric and in business central we have the concept of fields that appears to be mandatory theres a red asterisk next to them if if theyre empty and theres lots of indication that you should really fill out these fields but its also kind of weird because it seems like you dont have to and i over the last couple of weeks ive received several questions about this topic so i thought lets do a video about it um let me show you what im talking about at first so here is the customer table and if i create a new customer i select a template for the customer and we can see oh theres an asterisk next to the name and if i mouse over that the value for this field is required excellent well do that so if we this is a name so we got a name and the little red asterisk disappeared perfect lets look at the rest of this page so text area code is also mandatory but you know what this guy is not tax liable for whatever reason that might be and clearly he is not

When a mandatory field is available in the form, it means user should fill that field without fail. Leaving the mandatory fields will cause in non submission of the form.
To find out which fields are required, go to the Go to menu at the top right of the connector of the connector and click Salesforce Object Reference. The required field rows will say Required in the far right column.
(Note: You cant remove required fields, theyll always have to be displayed on edit and create).
On the page layout Click on Setup. Go to Quick Find and enter Object. Choose the object. Under the Page Layouts section, Click on Edit on the page layout that you use on the object. Click the wrench icon beside the custom field that you will make required. Select the Required checkbox. Click on Ok, then click on Save.
On each form, mandatory fields must be clearly indicated: A distinctive sign (* symbol, mandatory mention, etc.) If a symbol is used to declare mandatory fields, a statement placed at the beginning of the form must indicate that the symbol stands for a mandatory field.
