Generally speaking, most live bands will carry their own sound system with them when performing, but not always. The type of venue theyre performing in affects this more than anything because the bands sound system may not be sufficient for larger capacities such as festivals or theatres.
Most big name artists have their own, custom built stage, lighting, special effects and sound equipment. Between shows in different venues, the equipment is taken down, loaded into semi trucks and moves down the road. When the stage and equipment arrives at the next venue, it gets set up and ready to go again.
As of Apr 1, 2024, the average hourly pay for a Touring Musician in the United States is $21.56 an hour.
Bigger artists may also provide their own lighting console and lighting director as well. They count on the venue or promoter providing the lighting and sound amplification equipment they need as spelled out in the artists contract technical rider.

Depends on the budget, venue, etc. Small bands playing in bars will usually use the lighting already at the venue, but some fancy pants will bring their own fun stuff. Sometimes they bring visual/ video aid. Huge traveling acts usually bring their own lighting rigs and they have a whole crew for this.
When its time for the show, lighting technicians might operate light boards, call cues, manage power distribution, and solve problems as they arise. After and in between shows, lighting technicians keep the equipment in order: checking for wear and tear, making small repairs, and ordering supplies as necessary.
The lighting designer then hires a programmer or does the programming themselves, if they are ableand the two of them work with either the actual lighting rig or use a virtual computer simulation to pre-program all the lighting.
