Put simply, you want to give your guests as much notice as possible, especially if it takes them a while to RSVP. As such, its customary to send out your save the date around 6-12 months before the wedding and your invites at least three to four months before.
TIMELINE: 4-6 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING This crucial window gives you the information to finalize seating arrangements, catering numbers, and other logistical details. Setting this deadline provides a buffer for last-minute adjustments while ensuring a smooth and coordinated wedding day.
The general rule of thumb is to send party invitations 28 weeks before the event. Add an RSVP by date of 14 weeks before the event.
The ceremony program should include all of the helpful details you would want to communicate to guests: the order of ceremony events, wedding-party bios to help guests get to know your VIPs, musical selections, passages and readings, explanations of any ceremony or cultural traditions, a thank-you note to guests, and
ALL SECTIONS on the marriage license must be completed in permanent black ink, ballpoint pen preferred.
So what is the 30/5 rule? Its the rule that accounts for things that typically take 5 minutes in real life that will take 30 minutes on a wedding day. It also means that 30 minutes on a wedding day will feel like 5 minutes. You may have heard people say over and over that your wedding day will fly by.
We would recommend getting started at least 6-9 months before your wedding day OR by the time you send out your save the dates.
Save the date cards can be sent out as early as a year from your wedding date. Invitations should be sent to your guests six to eight weeks in advance of your wedding. Invitations for destination weddings should be sent to your guests three months in advance of your wedding.
