Try alcohol (rubbing alcohol). If its laminated, this will work well. If its paper, this may also work if you simply blot, dont rub or scrub. Blot, soak, let dry.
Signatures signed with blue or black pens hold up better over time. Many people prefer to use blue ink because its easier to identify an original document as opposed to a photocopy. Also, NEVER use white out. Doing so will void your title.
If this occurs, a duplicate title must be obtained by the current owner and the incorrect title should be enclosed with your request. Any corrections due to the misspelling of information may be corrected by drawing a line through the incorrect information and inserting the correct information.
Misspelled Names The DMV can easily handle one letter or number in the wrong place for free. Nearly every state has an affidavit for correction form. These simple forms list the most common errors, from misspelling your name to assigning the title to the wrong person.
If information is incorrect on your title, or you need to change information, you will need to notify the RMV and request an amended certificate of title. You will receive your amended certificate of title in the mail within 10 14 business days.
Its not uncommon for the seller to make a written mistake on the title, such as misspelling a name or writing down an incorrect number for the address or odometer reading. If youre selling your vehicle and made a written error, the best solution is to go to your DMV and explain what happened.
Use a Q-Tip soaked in a solvent like brake fluid, acetone, or rubbing alcohol to lift ink out of the page. If chemicals dont work, try carefully rubbing the ink off with an eraser, razor blade, or even a fine-grit sander.
Contact your DMV in writing and let them know theres an error on the title. Have the DMV issue you a duplicate title. If the previous owner is responsible for the title error, contact them and have them fill in the new vehicle title correctly.
