If you fail to maintain status, you are ineligible for any of the benefits of F-1 status (for example, employment authorization). This indicates that the student has been admitted to, but has not yet begun, the program or course of study.
Initial* The record has been submitted in SEVIS and is ready to be given to the student. The student may be about to enter the United States, is transferring to a new school or is awaiting a change of student status.
In family law, an initial status conference, or ISC, is a first appearance in your case. Depending on the division and county that your case is in, the conference is typically held before a court facilitator or a judge, and occurs within 40 days of the time you filed your petition.
Correction requests are often resolved within 30 days. However, at times, the SEVIS Help Desk will adjudicate a correction request sooner. A correction request is eligible for expedited processing when it meets one of the following criteria: Student or dependent has a Form I-515 due within 30 days or less.
You may check your current SEVIS status by talking to your designated school official or responsible officer. For questions, send a detailed e-mail to fmjfee.SEVIS@ice.dhs.gov.
