The best solution is to copy the name from one of the references, and paste it into the other reference(s) to ensure that the names are identical.
EndNote is correctly applying the APA style rule that: if two lead authors of different works have the same last name but different first and middle names or initials, their initials appear in the in-text citations to show that they are two different authors.
In EndNote, click on EditOutput Styles, and then select Edit [name of the style]. This will open the style edit window. On the left-hand side, under Citations, select Ambiguous Citations. Uncheck the box that reads Include author initials or full name in citation.
How do I remove or replace an EndNote citation in Word? In your Word document, right-click the citation to be changed. Select Edit Citation More from the context menu. You should see your citation highlighted at the top in the Edit and Manage Citations window. Click the Edit Reference drop-down menu.
Enter each author on a separate line. Put the surname first, then a comma and a space, and then the first name, middle name. Use the authors full name if known. Be consistent with how author names are entered.Entering author names Smith, Alfred, Jr. Williamson, Stuart, III. de Gaulle, Charles.
On the Document Elements tab, under References, click Manage. In the Citations List, select the citation that you want to edit. , and then click Edit Source. Make the changes that you want, and then click OK.
If EndNote is not formatting your citation correctly, first check that the correct Reference Type for the record is selected in EndNote. If the citation is still incorrect, you will need to either edit it manually by converting to Plain text, or edit the output style.
Use either the Edit Manage Citation(s) function from the EndNote toolbar in Word, or right click, and select Edit Citation(s). Go to More to get the full options. Change the Format to Exclude Author.
