What is R1C1 Reference Style in Excel? R1C1 is the other type of reference style that you can use in Excel. To turn off the R1C1 reference style: Click the File tab to access Backstage view. Click Options. The Excel Options dialog box will appear. Click Formulas on the left side of the dialog box. Uncheck the box next to R1C1 reference style, then click OK. Excel will now use the A1 reference style.
To change a cell address, do any of the following: Select the reference in the formula and type a new one. Select the reference in the formula, and then select another cell or range on the sheet. To include more or fewer cells in a reference, drag the color-coded border of the cell or range.
You can generate a unique value using a formula in the spreadsheet. An ID must be a value, not a formula, though, so copy (Ctrl+C) and paste as plain text (Shift+Ctrl+V) the result of the formula calculation into the cell meant to contain the new ID. Thats all there is to it!
Replace part of a formula with its calculated value Click the cell that contains the formula. In the formula bar. To calculate the selected portion, press F9. To replace the selected portion of the formula with its calculated value, press ENTER.
Change a cell reference to another cell reference Double-click the cell that contains the formula that you want to change. Excel highlights each cell or range of cells referenced by the formula with a different color. Press Enter, or, for an array formula, press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
