hey whats up youtube so today were going to be bracing up this front porch to add a load-bearing um beam where that box column sits right now im not sure if that was kind of a standard practice its been like that for years uh were gonna come in here and put a two by eight header span the whole way um going back with four four by four columns so ill kind of show you what were working with here i cut an inspection hole and if you can see up in there i was pretty surprised to find only spacer blocks the rafters run on two-foot centers so what the plan of attack is is to come in here and temporarily brace up on the underside of these rafters you can see where the car siding is nailed off so im going to come brace all this uh jack up that corner and use a bottle jack and a car jack so were going to go about bracing this up and getting it all secure so first things first im going to tack up this 2x4 so i can put some temp bracing up how we doing whats going on youtube uh earlier
