=REPLACE(oldtext, startnum, numchars, newtext) The REPLACE function uses the following arguments: Oldtext (required argument) This is the text we wish to replace some characters. Startnum (required argument) The position, within oldtext, of the first character that you want to replace.
The SUBSTITUTE function syntax has the following arguments: Text Required. The text or the reference to a cell containing text for which you want to substitute characters. Oldtext Required. The text you want to replace. Newtext Required. The text you want to replace oldtext with. Instancenum Optional.
Replace one value with another Select the range of cells where you want to replace text or numbers. Press the Ctrl + H shortcut to open the Replace tab of the Excel Find and Replace dialog. In the Find what box type the value to search for, and in the Replace with box type the value to replace with.
Select the cells with the formulas in which you wish to change cell references to names. To replace the references with defined names in all formulas on the active sheet, select any single blank cell. Go to the Formulas tab Defined Names group, click the arrow next to Define Name, and then click Apply Names
Select the cell with the formula, press F2, and then press ENTER. The cell displays the value.
Convert number to text using the Excel TEXT function Add a helper column next to the column with the numbers to format. Enter the formula =TEXT(C2,0) to the cell D2. Copy the formula across the column using the fill handle. You will see the alignment change to left in the helper column after applying the formula.
