Leave and passes are terms to describe days off work. A typical weekend day off is also known as a regular pass. Up to four consecutive days off can be either leave days or pass days. Leave days are deducted from the Service Members 30 annual days off.
Terminal leave is granted at the discretion of your command.
Leave Sell Back: Enlisted personnel with more than 120 days of leave accrued may, on a one-time basis, sell back up to 30 days of leave in excess of the 120-day limit. Such leave sell back counts against the 60-days active duty Soldiers may sell during their military career.
Job hunting leave This type of terminal leave is intended for job seekers who have not yet found employment. You are allowed up to 30 days of job hunting leave per year, and it can be taken in increments of no more than five days at a time.
Terminal leave may be used prior to a members separation date. For example, if a members separation date is May 30, and the member has 30 days of leave accrued the member may go on terminal leave starting on May 1. All out processing from active-duty service would have to be completed prior to May 1.
Terminal leave is just like regular leave except that members arent required to report back to their duty station after completion of the leave. The member can move to their desired location without returning to work.
Each day of leave is worth a single days basic pay. Note: You cant receive payment for more than 60 days. Additionally you cant sell leave if you are discharged for the purpose of accepting a commission or a warrant in any uniformed service.
Max terminal leave is 60 days except for emergencies. Use terminal leave to finish projects, not to formulate them. Take time to relax!
TAA/ISAA may be granted in a series of trips before departing on transition (not to exceed a total of 20 days CONUS or 30 days OCONUS). If taken in a series of trips, a duty day must be worked between each period of absence, ie, leave taken Monday-Thursday and Soldier is on duty Friday.
2. Commanders can approve up to 90 days of Terminal Leave. Additional days require CMC approval.
