Welcome to the fourth screen cast in the series on change sets. In this video, were going to learn how to validate and deploy an Inbound Change Set. You can validate a change set without deploying changes. By validating, you can view the success or failure messages you would receive with an actual deploy. A change set is deployed in a single transaction. If the deployment is unable to complete for any reason, the entire transaction is rolled back. After a deployment completes successfully, all changes are committed to your org and the deployment cannot be rolled back. The first step is to log into the org where the change set was sent to. The UEI will identify the unique entity registered in SAM, like the DUNS number does today. There can be a many-to-one relationship (UEI to EIN), as there is today with multiple locations of an entity each assigned a DUNS number and sharing the same EIN.
You will need a DUNS number before registering in the SAM database. If you are located within the United States a DUNS number may be obtained by calling Dun and Bradstreet at 1-866-705-5711 or at .
The System for Award Management (SAM) is a government-wide registry for vendors doing business with the Federal government, and SAM registration requires annual renewal. SAM centralizes information about grant recipients and also provides a central location for grant recipients to change organizational information.
As of April 4, 2022, the federal government will stop using the Dun Bradstreet (DB) Data Universal Number Systems (DUNS) Number to uniquely identify entities and will fully transition to using the Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
Section 1 Subrecipients DUNS Number Subrecipients need to provide their organizations nine-digit DUNS number, as described above. A legal entity such as a city or county may have multiple DUNS numbers. Subrecipients should provide the DUNS number associated with their authority to receive federal funds.
The Federal Government has transitioned from the use of the DUNS Number to the Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) as the primary means of entity identification for Federal awards government-wide.
A SAM registration is required to work as a federal contractor or subcontractor, and for nonprofits to receive grants. The registration process can be confusing, time consuming, and frustrating, even though it is the first step to working with the U.S. government.
Subrecipients are not required to obtain an active SAM registration, but must obtain a Unique Entity Identifier.
