Field validation rules Use a field validation rule to check the value that you enter in a field when you leave the field. For example, suppose you have a Date field, and you enter =#01/01/2010# in the Validation Rule property of that field. Your rule now requires users to enter dates on or after January 1, 2010.
To use the validation feature, you must complete the following tasks: Create one or more of the following validation groups: Worker/project, Project/category, or Category/worker. Combine projects, workers, and categories as needed in validation groups. Enable workers for category or project validation.
To edit the validation rule for a custom activity field, select the validation rule from Setup by entering Activities in the Quick Find box, then selecting Activities and choose Task Validation Rules or Event Validation Rules. Enter the properties of your validation rule.
Field validation is an automated process of ascertaining that each field contains the correct value before the form is accepted. The concept is straightforward. Does the phone number field contain a phone number? Does the email address field have all the parts that an email address needs to have?
First, call each individual function to validate username, email, password, and confirm password fields. Second, use the operator to determine if the form is valid. The form is valid only if all fields are valid. Finally, submit data to the server if the form is valid specified the isFormValid flag.
The most commonly used functions are: ISBLANK(field) returns True if the field is blank. ISPICKVAL(field, specific picklist value) returns True if a picklist value in a field matches the picklist value in the formula.
Validation rules are used to validate the information entered in a Web form component field against that rule. For example, a Numeric value validation rule ensures that user-entered values are numeric. Alpha characters or symbols would result in a validation error message.
A validation rule can contain a formula or expression that evaluates the data in one or more fields and returns a value of True or False. When the validation rule returns a value of True, this confirms that the data entered by the user contains an invalid value.
