[Music] hey guys in todays video what Ill be talking about is doing some custom validation on fields in your forms in Jango so there are many ways to do this but Im going to assume that youre doing this validation only once in a particular form if youre doing it in multiple places like your cost multiple forms then you may want to consider making your own validator or even your own field but since were limited to one form theres a particular method that you can use to validate things in one form only so what I have already is a very simple form setup with the text input and a submit button and then if we look here we have a form called anagram form with one value we have a template that renders it and we have views that handle the anagram form so nothing here is really important its just to get the form to display and the template is very straightforward so what Ill be doing is working on the anagram form here so what I want to do is I want to check and see if this test value

Why is Form Validation Needed? Form validation is required to prevent online form abuse by malicious users. Improper validation of form data is one of the main causes of security vulnerabilities. It exposes your website to attacks such as header injections, cross-site scripting, and SQL injections.
Input validation techniques fall into three categories: Server-side Validation. With server-side validation, all form information entered by the user is sent to the server to be validated upon form submittal. Client-side Validation. Real-time Validation.
Basic Validation First of all, the form must be checked to make sure all the mandatory fields are filled in. It would require just a loop through each field in the form and check for data. Data Format Validation Secondly, the data that is entered must be checked for correct form and value.
Field validation is an automated process of ascertaining that each field contains the correct value before the form is accepted. The concept is straightforward. Does the phone number field contain a phone number? Does the email address field have all the parts that an email address needs to have?
Validations errors are errors when users do not respond to mandatory questions. A validation error occurs when you have validation/response checking turned on for one of the questions and the respondent fails to answer the question correctly (for numeric formatting , required response).
Omitting validation for even a single input field may allow attackers the leeway they need. Unchecked input is the root cause of some of todays worst and most common software security problems. Cross-site scripting, SQL injection, and process control vulnerabilities all stem from incomplete or absent input validation.
When software does not validate input properly, an attacker is able to craft the input in a form that is not expected by the rest of the application. This will lead to parts of the system receiving unintended input, which may result in altered control flow, arbitrary control of a resource, or arbitrary code execution.
Validation errors typically occur when a request is malformed -- usually because a field has not been given the correct value type, or the JSON is misformatted.
