ABOUT THE HWB PROGRAM At least 20 hours, but no more than 30 hours per week are eligible for a bonus of $500. At least 30 hours, but no more than 35 hours per week are eligible for a bonus of $1,000.
Workers who provide hands-on care earning less than $125,000 annually are eligible to receive up to $3,000 in bonuses from their employers. Qualified employees must continuously work at the same healthcare facility for the duration of at least six months.
Employers are required to distribute healthcare worker bonus funds to eligible workers within thirty days of receiving any payment from the state.
This will be a one-time payment of up to $1,500 for workers at hospitals, nursing homes/SNFs, and medical groups that are affiliated with a hospital system (like Kaiser Permanente and the Dignity Health Foundation). We expect the payments to docHub workers sometime in early 2023.
Q. Are HWB Program bonus payments exempt from New York State and local income tax? A. Yes, the HWB Program bonus payments to employees is exempt from both NYS and local income tax (in municipalities such as New York City).
