What happens to Via Benefits when someone dies?

The HRA will be considered closed once the balance docHubes zero, or 24 months from the date of death, whichever occurs first. If the funds are not used by that date, they will no longer be accessible by the estate. Once the funds are forfeited, the HRA will not be reinstated.

What expenses are eligible for Via Benefits reimbursement?

Eligible out-of-pocket expenses include copayments, deductibles and coinsurance payments. Other eligible expenses are defined as those incurred while paying for Medical, Pharmacy, Dental and Vision services as described in Section 213 (d) of the Internal Revenue code.

How do I get reimbursement from via benefits after death?

Use the Via Benefits Accounts mobile app, our website, or a Reimbursement Request Form to submit reimbursement requests for one-time expenses. The HRA will be considered closed once the balance docHubes zero, or 24 months from the date of death, whichever occurs first.

Do I have to use Via Benefits?

Can I choose not to enroll in a medical plan through Via Benefits? Yes, but you may be required to undergo medical underwriting if you desire to enroll later. During a medical underwriting, an applicants medical information is evaluated to determine eligibility for health insurance coverage and assign premium rates.

Who gets benefits if beneficiary is deceased?

If your sole primary beneficiary passes away, the death benefit would go to any contingent beneficiaries you named when you applied for your policy. In the event you didnt designate any contingent beneficiaries, the death payout would likely go directly into your estate.

How does Via Benefits get paid?

Via Benefits provides direct deposit that will send your reimbursements directly to your bank account. The following page has the steps to set up direct deposit online.

What happens if the deceased received monthly benefits?

The SSA cannot pay benefits for the month of a recipients death. That means if the person died in July, the check or direct deposit received in August (which is payment for July) must be returned.

Do benefits stop when someone dies?

Benefit payments will not automatically stop when someone dies. After registering the death, you will need to tell the government to stop their benefit payments.
