USPS wont drop off the package until a signature is obtained. Once the package is delivered, USPS relays the delivery confirmation to the shipper. This information includes the date, time, and location of delivery. Packages that arent signed for are returned to the local delivery hub.
Instead of risking it by leaving your items sitting outside all day long, experts suggest requesting a signature for delivery to make sure someone is around to receive the package and safely bring it inside.
Delivery confirmation requires the recipient or a responsible party to sign for a parcel before it can be delivered. In other words, the recipient has to be physically present to receive their package. Until a signature is secured, UPS wont drop off the package.
You simply log in to your account and choose Manage Profile. Click the Signatures tab and add new to create an electronic signature. Choose from the menu of three different types depending on how you want to create your signature. You can upload a file, line draw or choose a pre-formatted option.
Some Companies Require Your Recipient to Sign for a Package in Order to Insure the Shipment. Sending sensitive items like firearms isnt the only instance when you need to add signature confirmation to your package. Youll also need your recipient to sign in order to insure certain high-value or breakable items.
An electronic signature is simply a legally valid electronic replacement of a handwritten signature.
A Waiver of Signature is initiated by the Sender and authorizes delivery of mail at the letter carriers discretion (if area is secured and protected from weather) without obtaining the recipients signature.
