Lets briefly discuss the similarities and differences between renewing an item and changing the due date of an item. Patrons or staff can renew an item for the time period and number of renewals specified by a librarys established policy. Renewals are tracked and a library may set policies based on patron type, material type and shelving location on number of renewals allowed as well as automatically calculated due dates. Only staff members can change due date for an item which overrides the automatically calculated due date. Change due date does not have limits nor automatically calculated due dates.
