hello and good evening this is repose wallah from Kerrville calm and today I want to explain why you get errors when you are trying to change a column to date to date field type and also a way to fix the problem so lets begin okay so here I have a file I downloaded from the power bi community and if I go to edit queries and here it say its as you can see I have a date column here that is being formatted to state so power bi Park we recognize that no problem but I have also here another date there has not been formatted the state so if we want to do that we will get an error and the question is why I mean I have to had this problem so many times either from files I downloaded from sources I get from somebody else from other countries so to understand why this happens and I think its important because then you understand why youre getting there and how to fix it if I go here into file options and settings and inter-regional settings I can see that the person that created this file ha

Access opens the table in Datasheet view. In the first blank column labeled Click to Add, select Date Time from the drop-down list of data types. Access creates a new field and then displays a temporary field name. Type a name for the field, such as Date Added, and then press ENTER.
Replace values (Power Query) To open a query, locate one previously loaded from the Power Query Editor, select a cell in the data, and then select Query Edit. Select a column with a text data type. Select Home or Transform Replace Value. In the Value To Find box, enter the value to search.
Select the column header or click in any cell in the column (field) you want to replace text. Click the Replace button. You can also press Ctrl + H to replace data. The Find and Replace dialog box appears with the Replace tab displayed.
Go to Power Query Editor and select your data set on the left hand side. Next, go to the cell that you want to edit and right click. The menu in the image shown above will appear. Click on the Replace Values option.
With Power Query, you can replace one value with another value wherever that value is found in a column. The Replace values command can be found: On the cell shortcut menu. Right-click the cell to replace the selected value in the column with another value.
Access provides several predefined formats for date and time data. Open the table in Design View. In the upper section of the design grid, select the Date/Time field that you want to format. In the Field Properties section, click the arrow in the Format property box, and select a format from the drop-down list.
Select Data Connections Properties Queries tab, right click the query, and then select Edit. When finished making changes in the Power Query Editor, select File Close Load.
