The Find function allows you to locate a particular number or text string, while the Replace function helps you replace a particular number or text string with something else.
Replace refers to overwriting text or inserting text over existing text.
Keyboard shortcut Press CTRL+F. The Find and Replace dialog box appears. To find data, in the Find and Replace dialog box, click the Find tab. To run a find-and-replace operation, click the Replace tab.
Of course, pressing Ctrl+H displays the Replace tab of the Find and Replace dialog box. If you want to get rid of the dialog box, there are three ways you can do it. I find the easiest way is to simply press Esc. You can also press Ctrl+F4, or you can use Tab to select the Cancel button and then press Enter.
To replace found text: Select the magnifying glass, and then select Replace. In the Replace With box, type the replacement text. Select Replace All or Replace. Tips: You can also open the basic Find and Replace pane with the keyboard shortcut CONTROL + H.
What is the difference between find and replace in MS Word? If I understand your question: Find means to locate a word or phrase. Replace mean to change the word or phrase to a different word or phrase.
Find and Replace helps you to find words or formats in a document and can let you replace all instances of a word or format. This is particularly handy in long documents. To use Find and Replace, use the shortcut Ctrl+H or navigate to Editing in the Home tab of the ribbon, then choose Replace.
To replace text: From the Home tab, click the Replace command. You can also press Ctrl+H on your keyboard. The Find and Replace dialog box will appear.
