Each customers response to a disputed invoice will be different. It depends on the customer, your relationship with the customer, and the circumstances. If your business has made a genuine billing error on the invoice, theres an easy fix. Apologize for the error, correct the mistake, and resend the invoice.
Select a detail line. Click Item/Tax. Click the Zoom. button to the right of the Comments/Instructions option. In the Type field, specify the type of information you are entering (Comment or Instruction). Enter comments or instructions. You can enter up to 80 characters per line. Click Close.
If a business makes a mistake on an invoice they have already sent to their customer, they must cancel the invoice with a credit note and then issue a new invoice. The credit note essentially pays the incorrect invoice so there is no outstanding payment.
