when a formula in a cell refers to its own cell then it is called circular reference in excel so lets understand what is circular reference why it occurs and how we can fix that now in cell a1 i will type a number 10 then in a2 let me type 20 in a3 let me type 13 now if i want to add these three numbers in cell a4 let me highlight a4 cell with yellow color so to add these three numbers in a4 i will use formula as sum equal to sum and i will select a1 a2 and a3 so if i extend this selection to a4 here we can see a1 to a4 that means we are referring to own cell as well i am closing the bracket pressing and you can see we are getting circular reference error if i press ok and result is coming 0 now instead of doing this if i use normal formula sum and i do not use the cell cell i use only a1 a2 and a3 then i get the correct result so how we can avoid circular reference or how we can fix the circular reference for that i will click on file and here we have options i will click on options

Subject Line: [Full Name] Reference Request I hope youre doing well and everything is great at [where they work or where you know them from]. Im writing because Ive been applying for [job title] roles at [company name/company type], and Id be thrilled if I could put you down as a reference.
The Right Way to Provide Your References to an Employer Name. Current Job/Position. Company. Phone Number. Email Address. Reference Description: Write one sentence explaining how you know or have worked with this person, where, when, and for how long. (Check out the example below to see what this looks like in action.)
Always ask before including someone as a reference. Send a polite email or call them on the phone, offering a few details about the request including timelines. After your reference agrees, send them your updated resume and details about the position. Follow up in a timely manner, thanking them for their reference.
Put your name and what youre asking for in the subject line of the message. For example, Subject: Jeff Doe Reference Request will let the reader know who the message is from and what it is about, which will increase your chances of it being opened and read in a timely manner.
How do you ask for a professional reference? Get permission to use them as professional references. Notify professional references that someone may contact them. Give your professional references plenty of notice. Give your references the appropriate background information. Tell them how youll use their reference.
How to request a reference Ask for written consent from the candidate. Use a standard reference request letter template. Request details about an employee. Only request information relevant to the role. Emphasise the importance of their reference. Consider a poor reference carefully. Follow data protection laws.
Use a clear subject line: In an email message requesting a reference, your subject line should be informative and straightforward. Typically, including your name and a phrase like Reference Request is best.
Three Things to Consider When Asking for a Job Reference Is This Person an Appropriate Reference? Will This Person Give Me a Good Reference? Do I Have Their Permission?
