To add the plain check mark, press and hold the Alt key then press 0252 on a number keypad then release the Alt key. To add the check mark with a box, press and hold the Alt key then press 0254 on a number keypad then release the Alt key.
So, you would hold down the Alt key and type 10003 on the numeric keypad. When you release the Alt key, the check mark will appear. If youre using a laptop or a keyboard that doesnt have a numeric keypad, you can create the same effect by holding down the Fn key and the Alt key, and then typing the number code.
In Google Sheets, you can insert a check mark (also known as a tick mark) by using special characters. To insert a check mark, click on the cell where you want the check mark to appear. Then, click on Insert in the top menu bar and select Special Characters.
First, go to the File Tab and open the Excel options. After that, navigate to Proofing and open the AutoCorrect Option. Now in this dialog box, in the Replace box, enter the word you want to type for which Excel will return a checkmark symbol (here Im using CMRK).
Place your cursor at the spot where you want to insert the checkmark. Go to Insert Advanced Symbol Symbols. Choose the checkmark symbol that you want. Select Insert.
For example, the character code of the tick symbol (✓) is 252, as shown in the screenshot above. Knowing this code, you can easily write a formula to insert a check symbol in Excel or count tick marks in a selected range.
