There are two types of replace() methods in Java String class. public String replace(char oldChar, char newChar) public String replace(CharSequence target, CharSequence replacement)
Numbers below 040 must be followed by a non-octal digit or a non-digit. \%x2a Matches the character specified with up to two hexadecimal characters. \%u20AC Matches the character specified with up to four hexadecimal characters. \%U1234abcd Matches the character specified with up to eight hexadecimal characters.
The Java string replace() method will replace a character or substring with another character or string. The syntax for the replace() method is stringname. replace(oldstring, newstring) with oldstring being the substring youd like to replace and newstring being the substring that will take its place.
Position the cursor over the character and type r , followed by just one replacement character. After the substitution, vi automatically returns to command mode (you do not need to press Esc).
