One of the ways to add comments is using the double-forward slash (//) before your calculation to add single-line comments. Note: adding this double-forward slash will render that piece of text in gray color and therefore will be ignored in the actual calculation.
Add comments In the toolbar above a view, click the comments button. In the Comments pane at right, enter your remarks. If youd like to notify others about the comment, include an @mention. If youve filtered the view, click the snapshot icon to share an interactive image that highlights the data youre describing.
Go to the sheet tab and select Data Replace Data Source. Note: You must have at least one field in the view to make the Replace Data Source option available. In the Replace Data Source dialog box, select the Current data source and the Replacement data source. When finished, click OK.
To enter a comment in a calculation, type two forward slashes //. See Add comments to a calculation for more information. Multi-line comments can be added by typing /* to start the comment and */ to end it.
Option 1 - Based on field values Select Analysis Create Calculated Field. In the Calculated Field dialog box: Name the calculated field. In the example workbook, the calculated field is named Outlier. Click OK.
Firstly, right click on the field that you want to update. Select the option of Replace references. A new box should pop up giving you a list of other fields that you want to replace the original field with.
In order to single line comment, simply add a // to the start of the line and write some text. Note: // doesnt have to be at the very start of the text box. You will notice that the text becomes grey, this means that Tableau recognises this as a comment and it will be ignored.
Queries are a better alternative to Calculated fields because they do not store the value in a table.
