On the Analyze tab, in the Calculations group, click Fields, Items, Sets, and then click Calculated Field. In the Name box, select the calculated field for which you want to change the formula. In the Formula box, edit the formula. Click Modify.
Queries are a better alternative to Calculated fields because they do not store the value in a table.
No, this is not possible in calculated field. In custom sql query you can use group by based on your data source.
To edit a calculated field: In the Data pane, right-click the calculated field and select Edit. In the Calculation Editor that opens, you can do the following: Edit the name of the calculated field. Update the formula. Click OK. The view updates to reflect the changes automatically.
Select a table. Select Click to Add Calculated Field, and then select a data type. Enter a calculation for the field, and then click OK. Type the expression yourself, or select expression elements, fields, and values to put them into the expression edit field.
In the Edit Aliases dialog box, under Value (Alias), select a member and enter a new name. Tip: To reset the member names back to their original names, click Clear Aliases. To save your changes: In Tableau Desktop, click OK.
Steps Locate a field within your search that you would like to alias. Select Settings Fields Field aliases. (Required) Select an app to use the alias. (Required) Enter a name for the alias. (Required) Select the host, source, or sourcetype to apply to a default field.
Change the Solver Order To fix the problem, you can change the Solve Order for the calculated items: Select a cell in the pivot table, and then on the Ribbon, under PivotTable Tools, click the Options tab. In the Calculations group, click Fields, Items Sets, and click Solve Order.
Steps Locate a field within your search that you would like to alias. Select Settings Fields Field aliases. (Required) Select an app to use the alias. (Required) Enter a name for the alias. (Required) Select the host, source, or sourcetype to apply to a default field.
Unfortunately in Tableau Desktop, you still wont be able to edit the alias yet. You either have to close your workbook and reopen it or you have to create a new connection to that data source and just replace the old one with the new one.
