over the course of the last several years it leaders have become aware of the increasing importance of experience management and often when measuring the success of their service strategy traditional service level agreements or slas fall tragically short in this video well talk about xlas or experience level agreements and why theyre quickly gaining ground in the world of service management first off whats wrong with slas well theres nothing really wrong with them they just dont tell the full story for years service level agreements were the main reference point to determine whether the service provider is meeting the clients expectations the problem is that the metrics used by slas such as transaction success rate or service availability makes sense to a service manager but for a customer they fall short they dont capture the entirety of the end-to-end support experience have you ever heard of the watermelon effect its when metrics on the outside are green which means theyre

You can create a calculated column that calculates just the month number from the dates in the Date column. For example, =MONTH(Date[Date]). If you want to add a text value for each row to a table, use a calculated column. Fields with text values can never be aggregated in VALUES.
Calculated fields lend to more flexibility and efficiency in your analyses. Power multiple visual analyses with one query - You can now create multiple calculations on top of one Helix-powered query.
When you create a calculated field, you are essentially creating a new field (or column) in your data source, the values or members of which are determined by a calculation that you control. This new calculated field is saved to your data source in Tableau, and can be used to create more robust visualizations.
On the Analyze tab, in the Calculations group, click Fields, Items, Sets, and then click Calculated Field or Calculated Item. In the Name box, select the field or item that you want to delete. Click Delete.
Select a table. Select Click to Add Calculated Field, and then select a data type. Enter a calculation for the field, and then click OK. Type the expression yourself, or select expression elements, fields, and values to put them into the expression edit field.
Queries are a better alternative to Calculated fields because they do not store the value in a table.
Here are just a few: To segment your data in new ways on the fly. To prove a concept such as a new dimension or measure before making it a permanent field in the underlying data. To filter out unwanted results for better analyses. To take advantage of the power of parameters, putting choice in the hands of your end users.
Calculated Fields are useful when you want to create a calculated item in a PivotTable or a report that does not use multidimensional data stored in Analysis Services, but instead uses data in an in-workbook Data Model created by using Power Pivot in Excel. The values in calculated fields can change based on context.
