Your vehicle can be sold if the original Connecticut Certificate of Title has been lost, the purchaser will be registering the vehicle in Connecticut, and the vehicle is titled in your name. If these three conditions arent met, you will need to apply for a replacement title, known as a duplicate title.
Contact your DMV in writing and let them know theres an error on the title. Have the DMV issue you a duplicate title. If the previous owner is responsible for the title error, contact them and have them fill in the new vehicle title correctly.
