all right so you guys wanted to know how to format your references in hanging indent and how to alphabetize your references all right its simple and easy what youre going to do is we are going to select all the references that we have and we will go to paragraph the on Mac you can do it by right-click go to paragraph then you see here where it says special click on this drop-down it says hanging and then line spacing because your line spacing has to be double so well have to pick double here thats it and youre going to click OK so now you see all your references are in hanging indent the way it should be but they are not alphabetized all these references need to be alphabetized so what we are going to do again we are going to select all the references because we need to put all of them in alphabetical order and you see on the top here where it says a to Z you will click on this and leave paragraph the way it is and then youre going to click on OK and all your references are alph

What are the key rules of creating an APA References list? Center the word References in bold font at the top of a new page. Double spacing is used throughout this page. Alphabetize entries by authors last names. Create a hanging indent for each individual source you add to the list.
A reference list should be ordered alphabetically by authors surname unless you are using a numeric referencing system. In this case, sources are assigned a number when they first appear in the text, and are listed in numerical order.
The earlier reference should come first even though the initials arent exactly the same. If your research directs you to the conclusion that you have two different authors, the order is correct as is, but youll need to remember to add the initials for each author when the reference is cited in text.
Format each reference with a hanging indent, which means that the first line of each reference entry is aligned flush with the left margin and each subsequent line has a hanging indent of 1.27 cm or 0.5 in (American Psychological Association, 2020, p. 303).
Order: All references are listed by alphabetically by author, or title if there is no author; If there are two entries with identical authors but different dates, order them chronologically, earliest first.
