The URL Inspection tool provides information about Googles indexed version of a specific page, and also allows you to test whether a URL might be indexable.
Choose Remove all URLs with this prefix , enter the URL / and hit the Next button. Google will now keep the URLs hidden for 180 days, but keep in mind that the URLs will remain in Googles index, so you will need to take additional action to remove them.
If you requested removal of the cached copy of a URL, Removed means that the cached copy has been removed and will no longer appear in search results; but the URL itself may still appear.
For sites that youve verified ownership for in your Webmaster Tools account, youll now see a new option under the Diagnostic tab called URL Removals. To get started, simply click the URL Removals link, then New Removal Request. Choose the option that matches the type of removal youd like.
For an individual URL, this can be indicated in any of three ways: block the page from crawling via a robots. txt file. block the page from indexing via a noindex meta tag. indicate that the page no longer exists by returning a 404 or 410 status code.
If you want to block multiple URLs, define their prefix. For example, if you specify blog/, all URLs inside that directory will be removed (blog/page1, blog/page2, etc.) You need to be extra careful when removing multiple URLs at once to avoid mistakenly removing a valuable page.
A URL prefix is the first part of a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that indicates the protocol or scheme being used to access the resource. The most common URL prefix is http or https which stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It is used to access resources on the World Wide Web.
