Symbol 2 is defined as Only those autos you own. This includes those autos you acquire ownership of after the policy begins. Under symbol 2 a vehicle acquired during the policy period is covered for the balance of the policy period. It is not covered beyond the policy period unless added to the policy.
Symbol 19: This is the newest symbol that has been added. It applies to mobile equipment such as a forklift or bulldozer. If your business utilizes this equipment and you are required to carry liability coverage you MUST make sure this symbol is listed on your policy.
Symbol 8 refers to hired auto coverage. This includes any autos hired, rented, leased, or borrowed for business purposes. It does not cover autos borrowed or leased from your employees or members of your household.
Liability Coverage Auto Symbols 1 = Any Auto This is the broadest symbol designation and covers any auto. 2 = Owned Autos Only. This symbol covers any auto owned by an insured, including any auto that is acquired after the policy begins.
Symbol 30 covers any customers auto left with the named insured for service, repair, storage or safekeeping. This symbol would be used to trigger the garagekeepers coverage. Symbol 31 covers dealers autos and autos held for sale by non-dealers or trailer dealers. This is used for physical damage coverage.
Symbol 7: Scheduled Vehicles The most common type of coverage purchased for Business Auto is Symbol 7 Symbol 7 coverage refers to any scheduled or listed vehicles on your policy. It is like Personal Auto coverage.
Symbols 10 (business auto), 32 (garage), 51 and 52 (truckers), and 72 and 73 (motor carrier) are custom symbols, available through the use of the Covered Autos Designation Symbol (CA 99 54) endorsement, which allows the insurer and named insured to agree to some modified wording that is a better fit in defining the
