Mix one part bleach and two parts water. If any traces of tea stain remain on the paper, scrub the paper with this solution, using an old, but clean, toothbrush. Use a very light scrubbing motion to avoid ripping the paper. Remove the liquid from the paper by blotting with paper towels.
How do you remove old tea stains from clothes? Mix together equal amounts of white vinegar, laundry powder and water until you have a paste (youll need about two tablespoons of each). Use an old toothbrush to work the paste into the stain. Rinse the paste off. Repeat if the stain is still very noticeable.

Wipe the books with rubbing alcohol - 70% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol is what I recommend. My rule of thumb: If its GLOSSY then you can wipe it with alcohol to clean the surface. This includes most board books and their pages. Most childrens books and some other books have glossy covers that can be wiped down.
Vulcanized natural rubber sponges can be very useful when cleaning paper. Sponges are more effective than brushes, but have greater potential for damage. They are not as effective or abrasive as plastic erasers. Suitable sponges are available from several archival supply companies.
Use a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol to remove stains and buildup. Rinse the cloth, wring it, and apply a drop of liquid dish soap. Wipe down the book cover and spine without getting the page edges wet. Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe away any residue.
Moisten a clean paper towel and once again carefully dab the stain. Repeat this with fresh paper towels until you stop seeing color come off onto the towel. With water based stains that havent been left to dry, most pigment will be removed using just this method.
Dry cleaning sponges, also known as dirt erasers are made of vulcanized rubber and are effective in removing many types of stains from the surfaces of cloth books. Use a small piece of the sponge and rub it over the stained area. Dispose of the used piece of sponge, once finished.

Baking soda is an absorbent powder. By putting it on the paper (or most other things that have oil stains and cant be washed, such as upholstery), the powder will wick up the oil out of the item.
