On the employee side of the line, you might see your name, the last four digits of your Social Security Number, home address, etc. The check stub will also list the pay period in question.
Refer to Whats New in Publication 15 for the current wage limit for social security wages. Employers should record the name and social security number (SSN) of each employee as theyre shown on the employees social security card.
Printing the Social Security Number on a paystub is unavailable. For security reasons, you can only see the last four digits of the number. If you need to view the full SSN of the employee, you can find it in the Employee Details report.
Social Security tax may be abbreviated on your pay stub as one of the following: FICA Federal Insurance Contribution Act. SS Social Security.
The best place to look your employers EIN (Employer Identification Number) or Tax ID is in Box b of your W-2 form. Look for a 9-digit number with a dash separating the second and third digit (NN-NNNNNNN). Its usually right above your employers name or below their address.
A paycheck stub summarizes how your total earnings were distributed. This includes how much was paid on your behalf in taxes, how much was deducted for benefits, and the amount that was paid to you after taxes and deductions were taken.
It does not include after-tax deductions. This includes federal income tax, Social Security tax, Medicare tax, and applicable state and local taxes that were deducted from the employees taxable wages for the pay period.
