hi everyone this is Anson from ansonalex.com and in this video Im going to talk about your options for deleting or removing version history in a Google Document so here we are in one of my Google documents and Im just going to go ahead and open up version history by going to file and going down here to version history I do want to note that if you wanted to you could name this version of the document from here but we want to go into the full history so well go and click on see version history now for those of you who are wondering if theres a way to turn off version history right so that as I work on this document in the future it doesnt save all of my changes here that somebody else could then look at Im sorry to tell you that no there is no way to turn off version history so I want to get that out of the way if thats what youre looking for you can stop looking but unfortunately I dont have a good answer for you because version history is built right into Google Docs and the

Delete an older version On your computer, go to drive.google.com. Click on the file you want to replace. At the top right, click More . Click Manage versions. Next to the version you want to delete, click More. Delete.
To permanently delete files on Windows, send them to the Recycle Bin and then empty the Recycle Bin to delete them for good. Once the bin is empty, you cant recover the files unless you have data or file recovery software.
Files in trash will be automatically deleted after 30 days. You can restore files from your trash before the 30-day time window. You can also permanently delete them to empty your trash. If you delete, restore, or permanently delete multiple files or folders at once, it might take time for you to notice the changes.

There could be a few reasons why you are unable to delete certain files on Google Drive. It is possible that the file is shared with someone else and they have set the permissions so that you cannot delete it.
From the perspective of the operating system the files are being deleted permanently only when they are either too big for the Recycle Bin, when the Recycle bin is being emptied or when the file was deleted using Shift+Delete.
Preserved metadata is stored in Cloud Storage as custom metadata key:value pairs. Numeric GID is stored as goog-reserved-posix-gid .
So where do deleted files go? Whenever you delete a file in your computer and empty your Recycle Bin, your data is not entirely wiped out from your computer. Although you can no longer see the file in the location it once was and your operating system no longer has it, a copy of it still exists on your hard drive.
Open the document in Google Docs. In the File menu, select Version history See version history. Select the More Actions icon (three dots) and choose Restore this version, Name this version or Make a copy. Another way to open version history is to select the Last Edit link at the top of the page.
