how serious is a non-compete agreement uh its very serious uh theyre very hard to enforce uh the the most um valuable part of of a non-compete agreement for an employer is the fact that it exists its existence has a chilling effect on an employees ability to go get another job start a new company go into competition and so its its very serious if youre right if you have a non-compete agreement that is not enforceable uh thats sometimes worse than having one that is because then you have to to say okay is it worth me defending um my rights under this non-compete and even though you might ultimately win um the cost of doing so uh can be prohibited for an individual if if you take these things to the mat it can be uh mid five figures to six figures uh to litigate one of these things so to be right can be expensive um and so non-compete agreements are very serious and whether youre trying to enforce one or whether youre trying to uh to get out of one and um im im very fortunate
