Im going to walk you through how it works with the wonderful Ellen, so lets get started. So today at 9am I have Ellen booked in on my schedule and to begin taking her payment Ill first just need to check her in for her appointment. So by clicking on the appointment youll see the booking details open on the right and this is where you can access the Arrive button and the No Show button. The Arrive button is whats going to let Jane know that Ellen has come in for her appointment, so start off by clicking Arrive. Youll notice the appointment turn green on the Schedule and youll also notice a new line appear where you can see the amount that Ellen is owing for the appointment the other thing that happens is we now have access to this blue Pay button, so next you can click on Pay and this

To be considered de-identified, ALL of the 18 HIPAA Identifiers must be removed from the data set. This includes all dates, such as surgery dates, all voice recordings, and all photographic images.
Generally, with regards to the removal of names from designated data sets, the name of the patient (including nicknames, pet names, and any other names they may be known by) have to be removed, along with the names of relatives, employers, and household members.
Billing Information Is Protected Information Under HIPAA, patient billing information qualifies as protected health information (PHI). Other types of PHI include information about an individuals mental or physical condition and the health care they receive.
What Specific Information Must be De-Identified under the HIPAA Safe Harbor provision? Names. Geographic locators. All elements of dates (except the year) that are related to an individual. Telephone, cellphone, and fax numbers. Email addresses. IP addresses. Social Security Numbers. Medical record numbers.
Non-covered services do not require an ABN since the services are never covered under Medicare. While not required, the ABN provides an opportunity to communicate with the patient that Medicare does not cover the service and the patient will be responsible for paying for the service.
What is not PHI? De-identified health information neither identifies nor provides a reasonable base to identify an individual. Health information by itself without the 18 identifiers is not considered to be PHI. For example, a dataset of vital signs by themselves do not constitute protected health information.
Acceptable identifiers may be the individuals name, an assigned identification number, telephone number, date of birth or other person-specific identifier. Use of a room number would NOT be considered an example of a unique patient identifier.
De-identification is a process of detecting identifiers (e.g., personal names and social security numbers) that directly or indirectly point to a person (or entity) and deleting those identifiers from the data.
When combined with this information, PHI also includes names, phone numbers, email addresses, Medicare Beneficiary Numbers, biometric identifiers, emotional support animals, and any other identifying information.
