Removing a passphrase using OpenSSL Copy the private key file into your OpenSSL directory (or specify the path in the command below). Run this command: openssl rsa -in [original.key] -out [new.key] Enter the passphrase for the original key when asked. The output file [new. key] should now be unencrypted.
Steps to remove passphrase from SSH key Run ssh-keygen with -p option. Specify the location of your SSH private key. Enter existing passphrase for the private key. Comment of the private key will be displayed. Press [ENTER] twice without entering any passphrase to remove current passphrase.
The workaround is to remove the password using another machine with openssl: Export the certificate from the PAN-OS device with a password. Edit the . pem file with a text editor to keep the encrypted private key only and save the file as with-passprivate. key
If you dont have the Private Key (or if you do not have control of the Private Key), then your computer will not allow you to use the certificate for anything. Setting a password on your certificate prevents other people from copying your certificate Private Key.
Follow these steps to extract the private key using OpenSSL: Open the command-line tool and navigate to the directory that contains the PKCS12 certificate. Enter this command: openssl pkcs12 -in [certificate name] -nodes -nocerts -out [private key name] Enter the passcode for the certificate.
In the console tree, navigate to the certificate you want to export. Right-click the certificate, select All Tasks, and then select Export. On the screen Welcome to the Certificate Export Wizard, select Next. To export the private key, select Yes, export the private key, then select Next.
