Use FORECAST to Calculate Projected Sales In Google Sheets, click on the cell where you want the projected sales value to appear. Type in the FORECAST formula as shown below. Select the value of x for which you want the predicted value. Select the cells containing datay, the known values for the dependent variable.
The formula is: previous months sales x velocity = additional sales; and then: additional sales + previous months rate = forecasted sales for next month.
The FORECAST function in Google Sheets predicts future values using linear regression to determine the linear relation between value series and timeline series. Regression is used to predict values, simple market trends, inventory requirements, and sales growth.
LINEAR in Google Sheets is as follows: =FORECAST. LINEAR(yvalues,xvalues,intercept) where yvalues is the array of data points for which you want to predict a linear trend, xvalues is the array of corresponding x-values, and intercept is the desired y-intercept for the trend line.
Delete a forecast Open the Forecast configuration page. The forecast configuration page opens. Select the More options icon corresponding to the forecast that you want to deactivate, and then select Delete. A confirmation message is displayed. Select Delete. The forecast is deleted permanently from your organization.
