can i refuse an exit interview yes i dont see why you would have to necessarily do an extra interview if youve already quit you definitely could refuse an extra interview people definitely can lose the position during an exit interview now theres a lot of questions about extra interviews i would recommend not saying um very negative things about the firm in your extra interview the reason i would recommend doing that is because you may want to go back to that firm in the future and if you want to go back you can very quickly burn bridges and permanently burn bridges if you say bad things in your extra interview the next question should you be truthful yes but again you dont want to burn bridges so if you say very negative things then that can also hurt you as well so you need to be very careful there and then sometimes people will be leaving because of different reasons so you need to be careful if you were leaving for what the reasons would be but you should be very careful

Be Honest. First and foremost, you must be honest with your HR department about your working experience. Remember, their primary goal for the exit interview is to gain insight into how the company works from an insiders perspective. If you want your feedback to be useful, you need to tell them the truth.
Exit interviews rarely give you all the facts about why someone is leaving. They also have notoriously low response rates, which makes it difficult to paint a meaningful picture about whats leading to employee turnover in your organization.
Exit interviews are seldom mandatory, and a departing employee can opt out if they dont feel comfortable meeting. Its OK to refuse an exit interview or not to answer questions. If you dont feel comfortable or like youre in a good mental space to answer questions about the company, then dont, Owens said.
An exit interview is a chance for you to learn from a departing employee his/her employment experience with your company. Many employers choose not to conduct exit interviews. An exit interview by a hostile employee can create documentation that could be damaging in a lawsuit or claim for UI benefits.
You may feel obligated to accept an invitation for an exit interview from a senior staff member or human resources representative, however, its professionally acceptable to decline without facing any consequences from your current employer.

No comment or, I dont want to participate in an exit interview Nows not the time to be curt, nonresponsive, or offer a terse, no comment. Being evasive or tight lipped will only make it seem as though you are hiding something and not cooperating with the process, Kerr explains.
Guesswork leading to bad decisions: Without exit interviews to either prove or disprove theories about whats to blame for high turnover, an employer runs the risk of arriving at the wrong conclusions and, therefore, taking action it might regret such as firing a good manager.
